Applying in Fulton County

Start the application online
Georgia’s probate courts take applications through the Georgia Probate Court Manager site. Fill it in before you go anywhere — you will need the confirmation number when you arrive.

Go to the court in person
Fulton County Probate Court, 136 Pryor Street SW, Second Floor C230, Atlanta, GA 30303. You must live in Fulton County to apply here, and you will need a non-expired, government-issued photo ID showing your current Fulton County address. You must be at least 21.

Get fingerprinted
Where this happens depends on the court — some take prints on site, some send you elsewhere. There is a separate fee. We do not take fingerprints here, but we can point you at a local partner who does.

Wait for the background check
The court runs state and federal checks. Timing varies.

Collect or receive your licence
Some counties mail it; some have you come back. Several ask for a self-addressed stamped envelope at application time, so bring one.

What Fulton County does differently
Fulton publishes a military rate for applicants aged 18 and over, which is the exception to the usual minimum age of 21. Bring your service documentation and ask the court what they need to see.
Retired law enforcement applicants need a retirement letter and proof of ten or more years of service.
