The Process
Applying in Coweta County

Start the application online
Georgia’s probate courts take applications through the Georgia Probate Court Manager site. Fill it in before you go anywhere — you will need the confirmation number when you arrive.

Go to the court in person
Coweta County Probate Court, 200 Court Square, Newnan, GA 30263. You must live in Coweta County to apply here, and you will need a non-expired, government-issued photo ID showing your current Coweta County address. You must be at least 21.

Get fingerprinted
Where this happens depends on the court — some take prints on site, some send you elsewhere. There is a separate fee. We do not take fingerprints here, but we can point you at a local partner who does.

Wait for the background check
The court runs state and federal checks. Timing varies.

Collect or receive your licence
Some counties mail it; some have you come back. Several ask for a self-addressed stamped envelope at application time, so bring one.

What Coweta County does differently
Apply online first, and save your work. Coweta is emphatic about the next part: do not print anything before coming to the Probate Court office.
Everyone selects “New Application” online. If you are eligible for a renewal, the court converts it in person.
